1. InkHunter

This apps lets you ‘try out’ a tattoo with augmented reality, so you know what to expect before getting permanently inked.

All you have to do is apply a teensy amount of ink on the area you’re aiming to get inked and leave the rest to the app.

The app automatically overlays the chosen tattoo on your skin so you know what you’re getting yourself into.

The app’s gallery is up-to-date with creations from various artists. You can customize your tattoo by uploading a new picture.

The ‘create your own tattoo’ option allows you to add text in various fonts. You can share your augmented reality tattoo with your BFF via social media, for a second opinion.

2. Google Goggles

Take a picture of practically anything through the app (make sure the item is in focus) and this image recognition tool will retrieve information about the item from its database.

The app can help you recognize books, DVDs, CDs and add contacts by scanning business cards and even translate street signs from any language.

You can learn more about the photos already on your phone and can store up to 1000 images in your search history.

3. Lumyer

The app allows users to turn their photos or videos into animated art by choosing from more than 100 effects. Add animated video effects to your files and save them in Live Photo or GIF formats.

These can then be shared on platforms such as Facebook and Instagram. The custom ‘Sing Lumy’s’ effect allows you to incorporate characters from the 2016 films.

An augmented reality view overlays the star chart over the camera viewfinder and you can tap on individual objects and get details on them. The Time Machine slider feature lets you view skies of the past or future.

The app includes information on the history and mythology of various constellations, stars, and planets. This app is available for iOS and Android.
